Many students at Lexis are looking to combine their English study with work and travel.  Having a part-time job is a great way to improve your English, make friends and earn some extra pocket money for that trip of a lifetime around Australia at the end of your course.  

Many of our schools are located in popular tourist destinations, meaning that jobs in the hospitality sector are readily available and easy to find. You might start out as a kitchen porter in a restaurant or a cleaner in a resort, and as your English skills improve, so do your job prospects and your earning potential – all the more reason to strike a good balance between study and work.

Lexis Work Shop

Our free Lexis Work Shop program has been designed to provide you with the skills and tools you need to quickly find a rewarding part-time job.

The program is offered throughout the year in all of our locations and consists of four weekly modules:

Module 1:	Creating your resumé and writing a cover letter or e-mail
Module 2:	Understanding and responding to job ads by telephone
Module 3:	Interview tips, advice and practice
Module 4:	Your local guide to finding a job: where, when and how

 

As part of the program you will receive a copy of the Lexis Work Shop manual, which contains advice, useful contact information and resources – basically all you need to know about working in Australia.

Working Holiday Visa

If you are thinking of coming to Australia on a Working Holiday or Work & Holiday visa, let us help you to get your year off to the best possible start.

No matter how much planning and research you do before you leave home, it’s always good to have someone to meet you when you arrive in Australia, to organise your accommodation for the first month or two and to help you find that all important first job.

Look at it as an investment – spend anything up to your first 4 months perfecting your English, take part in our free Lexis Work Shop program, find your first job on the school blog and you set yourself up for the best year and some of the most memorable experiences of your life.
