Mayara – Brazil

A friend of mine in Brazil recommended Lexis Byron Bay to me, and when I arrived in Australia I couldn’t speak a word of English. I planned to stay here for 7 months but now I have decided to stay for one year. Because it is a small school with friendly teachers Lexis Byron Bay feels like a big family. To begin with I lived with a homestay family, then I moved into a student house and now I am living in a student house with another Brazilian student and an American guy, just 5 minutes from the beach and only 10 minutes from school. I have a part-time cleaning job, but I also like to go to the beach and to parties in the evening – the night-life in Byron is amazing!

Victor – Spain

 I came to Lexis English to study for the Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) as I really wanted a qualification to show for my time here. I chose Byron Bay because some friends in Barcelona recommended it to me. I was looking for a small town instead of a big city as it is easier to integrate into the local community and to meet Australian people and visitors from all over the world. I arrived a week before the start of my course and quickly found a share house with some cool housemates, and I also found a job working in a restaurant. When I leave Byron Bay I plan to go to New Zealand for a while and then I am going to India to take part in a volunteer program.

Rio – Korea

My agent in Korea recommended Byron Bay to me as there are not too many Korean students here, the town is not too big and I can go surfing every weekend. I have been here for 6 months already and after studying General English I am now in an advanced level IELTS class and will stay here for a whole year. I am working as a dishwasher in a restaurant, which means I can earn some money and improve my English at the same time. Sometimes I go up to the Gold Coast so that I can stock up on Korean food at the Asian supermarket there and when I finish my course I am planning to travel to Sydney and maybe Perth too.

Paola - Italy

It is very nice here! I have been here for 1 1/2 weeks and am staying 3 months. I have already made some friends in my class. I'm going to university back in Italy when I finish my English class. I love the Lexis English school in Byron Bay because they help you a lot, everyone is very nice and very happy! Every day I ride my bike from my homestay to school which I enjoy. Yesterday I went to the light house, it was great.

I orginally applied to study at Lexis Byron Bay for 4 weeks but decided to stay here for longer, now almost 3 months. I was studying English in Sydney before Byron Bay. I used to live near Bondi beach but it took a long time to get to my school by bus everyday. It is much better in Byron Bay, everything is really close and it is easy to get around and very relaxed! I am going to work here and open a new company and have to do IELTS to improve my English. It's really important to me because I came to Australia to improve my English.
