Our Courses

Whether your aim for your English study in Australia is to gain a prestigious Cambridge qualification, to reach a high IELTS score, to progress to further study or just to brush up your language skills in a General English class, our teachers’ experience and dedication will help you to achieve your learning goals.

Lexis English full-time courses consist of a minimum of 20 hours per week with an optional 5 hours per week of Guided Individual Learning (GIL), whilst our part-time courses consist of 15 hours per week. Our courses are all CRICOS registered and available to student visa holders, except those marked with an asterisk*, which are only available to working holiday visa or tourist visa holders.

We understand that ever student comes to Australia with unique goals, plans and learning needs.  Lexis 360° is our student care program designed to ensure that everyone coming to Lexis receives the individual care and attention they need to get the most from their study experience.

With Lexis 360°, you will receive a day one interview, personal needs analysis and individual study plan.  A ‘week one’ interview will make sure that you’re on track, and then monthly personal feedback sessions with your teacher will ensure that we are meeting your learning needs.

Your First Day

On your first day, please arrive at school between 08:30 and 09:00 and report to Reception. Don’t forget to bring your passport, a passport-size photograph, a pen, the address of your homestay or accommodation, and your mobile phone number if you have one.

Welcome & Placement Test

To begin the day you will sit a short test to assess your current English language level. This will take about 60 minutes and consist of a mixture of vocabulary and grammar questions and a writing task.

Orientation

This is the time to learn everything you need to know about the school, the local area and lots of other useful information about life in Australia, as well as advice about activities, excursions and how to make the most of your time at Global Village.

Morning Break

Time to help yourself to a tea or coffee and meet your classmates and fellow students from around the world.

One-to-One Interview

A chance to meet our Director of Studies or Senior Teacher, who will assess your speaking and listening skills and discuss which class and program will be most suitable for you. You will also decide which option class and Guided Individual Learning (GIL) topics suit you best, and also receive your text books.

Lunch

If you are a part-time student, you are now free for the rest of the day – the school facilities, free wi-fi access and the computer room are available for you to use.

Option Class

If you are a full-time student, it’s time for your first option class – you can find a list of some of the options available at Global Village on the page opposite.

14:00	Guided Individual Learning (GIL) / Workshop / Activity
	To end the day, you will usually have a number of different options to choose from:

 

Guided Individual Learning (GIL) allows you the flexibility to focus on a particular theme of your choice, such as pronunciation, building your vocabulary or improving your grammar, with a teacher on hand to help and guide you.

You may want to attend one of the many academic workshops that are available throughout the week, such as the Lexis Work Shop.
